We’re Not Just Distributing Diapers, We’re Changing Lives

SupplyBank.org is California’s leader in the mission to end diaper need–a challenge impacting 1 in 2 families in the United States.

Our seamless system–from planning to distribution–is fast, scalable, and designed to get higher quality, lower-cost diapers in the hands of families who need them most. Since 2016, we’ve worked with more than 700 community-based organizations to distribute tens of millions of diapers and wipes to families across California. But we’re more than a diaper distributor–we’re a mission-driven organization working to transform the diaper distribution system in order to lift people out of poverty, ensure healthier futures for babies and families, and build a stronger, more efficient, more comprehensive safety net for all of us.

Transforming the Diaper Distribution System to Build a Stronger Social Safety Net

SupplyBank.org’s unique, centralized procurement and logistics system enables us to directly manufacture high quality, custom products at a fraction of the cost, so they are more affordable for all organizations addressing diaper need, enabling our partner organizations to distribute more free diapers and wipes to families in need. Our partnership network of more than 700 organizations enables us to embed diaper distribution into broader wraparound services–including homelessness programs, domestic violence shelters, disaster recovery services, Women, Infants & Children (WIC) clinics, First 5 family resource centers, school districts, county offices of education, and other agencies throughout the state directly serving low-income families. By reducing costs and inefficiencies, increasing reliability, and helping our community partners deliver stronger core services, we’re transforming a fragmented, under-resourced system into an efficient, equitable, and scalable safety-net infrastructure.

Lifting People Out of Poverty in California

SupplyBank.org’s free diaper distribution program provides real, direct relief for hundreds of thousands of California families. Diapers cost more than $100 per child per month, and many low-income families on public assistance spend as much as 15% of their income on diapers. By helping ensure families have consistent access to diapers and wipes, we can help reduce emotional and economic stress, prevent unhealthy stretching of supplies, and eliminate painful choices for families between diapers, food, rent, healthcare, education, and other essentials.

Building a Healthier California for Families and Babies

Every year, we see upwards of 40,000 hospital visits–mostly to the E.R.–in California due to diaper needs. Many of these patients are on Medi-Cal, meaning taxpayers foot the bill. Low-income families are often driven to make diapers last longer, leading to painful diaper rashes and urinary tract infections. Many parents experiencing diaper shortages also suffer from mental health challenges due in part to the stress from diaper need. By reducing diaper need, we’re keeping babies clean and families healthy. Never in recent history was this need made more evident than during COVID–and we responded by distributing emergency diapers and wipes across all California counties.

Making a National Impact in the Mission to Reduce Diaper Need

Our three-year, $5.8 million diaper bank program in Alameda County is one of the nation’s largest, and will distribute tens of millions of diapers and wipes. This follows similar programs in Santa Clara County and other statewide efforts.Working with a variety of public agencies and community based organizations we have built similar partnerships to address diaper need in counties across our region and state. We also worked with the California Community Action Partnership Association to open diaper banks in four different California counties. And we’ve trained dozens of state agencies and tribal nations on diaper distribution. Our proven approach led the U.S. Congress to adopt our service model as part of the first ever federal diaper bank program.

Partnership Spotlight:

Changing Diapers and Changing Lives With The Clinton Foundation’s Too Small to Fail

SupplyBank.org is proud of the diaper and wipes design we developed with Too Small to Fail (TSTF), the early childhood initiative of the Clinton Foundation. Through its “Talking is Teaching” campaign, TSTF supports parents and caregivers with resources to talk, read, and sing to young children, to prepare them for success in kindergarten and beyond.

SupplyBank.org team members distribute diapers during a community distribution

With SupplyBank.org’s capabilities to manufacture custom products for the communities we serve, this partnership allows us to address diaper need while incorporating the benefits of the Talking is Teaching campaign.

This brand features research-based, bilingual messaging prompts that remind caregivers to talk, read, and sing with babies during everyday routines. The diapers are regularly tested to ensure the highest quality for absorbency, safety, and function.

SupplyBank.org started distributing the new Talking is Teaching diaper brand in the fall of 2025 and by early 2026, all families participating in the diaper bank program will receive this redesigned, research-based product.

The brand will become available to other nonprofit organizations and public agencies addressing diaper need throughout California in 2026.
